Creating Space … For Another Perspective On Vision

Let's look at vision from the perspective of Jay Shetty and Ed Mylett.

Do you have a few go-to messages that always get you into the headspace that you want to be in? For me, it's THIS conversation between Ed Mylett and Jay Shetty. Something about it touched me so deeply the first time I listened that it brought me to tears. And while I no longer weep every time I listen to it, I have shared this particular interview with others and re-watched it more times than any other interview I can think of in these past few years. Do you want to listen to the whole thing???

Cool, 10/10 - I highly recommend. Here's the link.

Do you want to skip right to my favorite parts? Cool, I also have YOU covered my friend. Keep reading to hear a little about the segments that really stood out to me.

1) Our issue isn't vision, but rather DEPTH Perception

Here, Ed explores how our beliefs and patterns become our own self-fulfilling prophecy.

2) We ALL have value we can add, and we can all make an IMPACT

According to Ed. "In life, we are most qualified to help the person we used to be."

My personal belief is that empathy is a super power. I think Ed is on to something.

3) "On the other side of temporary pain, you meet another version of yourself." Ed

We've all been through hardship and pain. There is power on the other side. Tap in if you agree!

4) "Create from a place of vision for the future." Ed

No, but for real! This one hit me like a ton of bricks. I had to ask myself, what has happened to my imagination? How often are we looking backward at "how it used to be." and what "didn't work". I don't know about you, but I want to be a visionary, and an innovator. I want to CREATE my own opportunities. This one was clutch!

5) If we tune in, we can get more clear on what it is we are REALLY chasing.

According to Ed, it's not actually the "thing" that we are craving, but how we believe it will make us FEEL. Keep listening, because he also makes a really compelling case about the "emotional home" we are choosing to live in. Start here.

6) This isn't a one-and-done, this is a LIFESTYLE.

Jay shared this, and I totally agree. I believe we train ourselves into the person we are, and how we show up one decision at a time. We can let life happen TO US, or we can build an indomitable will.

Keep listening for Ed's response to that, followed by Jay's quote: "Comfort creates self care, but discomfort creates self-respect." Whew!

7) How does someone do "one more" and ensure it is in the right direction?

I'm so glad Jay asked this question. And I loved Ed's response. Ed goes into the power of checking in with yourself, and understand how you are satisfying the 6 Human Needs. He goes more into detail, but overall, the point is - build a high level of self awareness and personal attunement.

8) "We don't have the power to change the season, but we have the power to live the season well." Jay

This one is mostly a continuation of the above, but if you skipped it, go back. lol

9) Great doesn't have to be big, and big doesn't mean great." Jay

Ed and Jay both agree. Start where you are. Figure out what sparks joy for you, and who and how you want to serve. It matters.

10) We underestimate the power of compound pounding over time. (Invisible progress per Ed)

I hope this lights a fire under you! It sure did for me! (Again). Go kill it.

What did I miss? What stood out for you???
